Don’t Hate, Appreciate!
Most people feel bad about themselves from time to time. However, low self-esteem can stem from being repeatedly mistreated by people, or by their own judgement of themselves. Low self-esteem can also stem from depression and a host of other psychological issues that may cause one to feel unhappy about themselves. Since I am not a medical expert, I will not be discussing low self-esteem from a medical point-of-view, but as a friend.
We all have the right to feel good about ourselves, like ourselves and love ourselves. You should NEVER allow anyone to make you feel inferior to them; less than you are. If for some reason you do start to have those feelings of insecurity due to another person’s nasty venom, don’t allow their words to stick in your head. The truth is, people who put other people down or mistreat another person do so, to make themselves feel better. They are really insecure. You know that old saying “misery loves company”, well, there you go… But, the important thing is to remember that you are a child of God and he makes no mistakes; he made you to be specifically who you are. We are all here for a certain purpose and if you haven’t figured out your purpose yet, don’t fret, you will…trust me!
Maybe you put yourself down, because you think if you looked like someone else, had the material things someone has, the abilities someone else has or the talent someone else has, that you would be happier. I bet you never thought maybe someone may be admiring something about you, have you? I am sure you have something special about you, that only you are good at. The truth is, you have no idea what someone else had to endure to get what they have or look the way they do. So why not embrace what you were given and just improve on those areas you feel would make you better or happier. We all have something to offer and we all have something we are good at.
Have you ever thought, that maybe the reason we all were given different features, different skin tones, different hair texture, different talents, abilities and different personalities, was God’s way for us to appreciate our differences. I would think life would be so boring if we all looked the same, acted the same, thought the same, liked the same things, did the same things or even spoke the same languages. Who would we have to inspire us? Who would we inspire? Yes, you may inspire someone and don’t even realize it. So, the next time you start to feel sorry or unhappy with yourself, why not do something you enjoy, wear something that makes you feel good about yourself, reward yourself and spend time with people who make you feel good about yourself. Most importantly, remember that God made you just the way you are and he makes no mistakes.
Now, get out there and enjoy what God gave you and remember, Don’t Hate, Appreciate!
