Life’s Ups and Downs
There are days when you wake up singing the theme song to “Rocky” and then there are those days when you are singing “Nobody’s Home” by Avril Lavigne. Yup! One day you wake up feeling on top of the world. You are on a natural high! Then the very next day you can wake up feeling worthless, hopeless and helpless. However, both types of feelings are totally natural, normal and to be expected. They are called the ups and downs, the highs and the lows of life. Yet, there are some things you can do to get through those mixed experiences without getting even a scratch on you.
When you are in a good mood you must beware of any commitments and decisions you make. Just because you are feeling on top of the world, don’t play super hero and try to take on more than you can really handle. Try to restrain yourself, even if your upbeat mood lingers on for a few days and realize your plate can get pretty full. Don’t rush through anything, as to not have to redo or overdo later. Most importantly, don’t get all caught up in that top of the world feeling, allowing it to motivate you to take on things that could cause you to crash.
If you happen to wake up feeling the blues, just chill for a moment and allow yourself to experience what you are feeling. You must remember you are human and life does go on. The good thing about life is that it renews itself every day, which allows you the chance to do the same. It could be that you may need the rest, so just linger or putt-putt around for a couple of days, then get up, brush yourself off, request your favorite DJ play “Shake your grove thing” by Peaches & Herb, so you can get your blood flowing for the next wave of feeling good.
The message here is that life’s ups and downs should not become a permanent state of being. You must embrace the highs and lows of life and not allow them to get you down.
