We all make mistakes and we are not always proud of ourselves afterwards. It could be a specific action we took, or general behavior that has caused the harm. Most of us think of the things in our lives that we wish we could take back, undo, or that we would have handled differently if we were given a second chance. Maybe we hurt a loved one, performed poorly on our jobs or go trapped into alcohol or drugs. Although, we would give anything if we could put it back together again, the reality is there are no second chances. We all make mistakes. But the best way to handle them is to not take on the guilt as our constant companion. Not spend our lives grieving over our mistakes, or to constantly think about how we coulda, woulda, shoulda, handled or done things, but to vow to live differently from here on out.
What we have to do is take time to focus on the present, and to realize that our past is neither our present nor our future.
