Ugh! Monday Already…

Everything just seems harder to do on Mondays. The stapler seems heavier, the computer won’t do what you want, and lunch is hours away.

“The ‘Monday Blues’ described as a negative emotion that many people get at the beginning of the workweek, especially if they’re not happy at work. It’s a combination of depression, tiredness, hopelessness, and a sense that work is unpleasant yet unavoidable.”

Even though we wished Mondays would just fade away into the deepest part of the sea, Mondays are important for setting the tone for the rest of the work week. Mondays have also been found to be one of the most productive days of the week. Below are a few things that will help you get through those Monday blues.

  1. You’re not alone in your feelings

Most people complain about Mondays, so you’re in good company. There have been studies that state the average person doesn’t even smile until 11:16 a.m. on a Monday. “That’s my excuse and I’m sticking with it.”

  1. You are allowed to overdose on coffee

For crying out loud, it’s Monday!  You need to do whatever you can to stay awake. So get that morning Grande at the nearest Starbucks. Then go back for another one later in the day. You get a coffee pass because it is Monday.

  1. Plan something for after work

You may be too tired for a movie, but what about drinks with friends? Having something to look forward to will help move the day along.

  1. Move that body

We’ve all heard it before, but exercise really does make you feel better.  When you find the time to exercise before work or at lunch time it improves your mood and makes you feel you can handle whatever comes your way.

5.Rock that new outfit

Nothing makes you feel better than a new outfit or a new hair style. Male or female, when you look good you feel good…no doubt about that. So, if there were ever a day to where a new outfit Monday is the day.

  1. One more day until Tuesday

Which means really good television like “Bates Motel“or if you’re looking for something that might take you for an even bumper ride, then watch some of the drama filled Bravo reality shows.

  1. Make Monday as stress-free as possible

If you can help it, try not to schedule back to back meetings and tons of phone calls on Monday.  One way you can avoid that from happening is to prepare for Monday the Friday before. This will give you a head start into the work week.

  1. It’s a brand new week

Regardless of what mishaps took place last week, Mondays give you a whole new week to start from scratch. Take advantage of that.
